Grace Kathrine Handy, age 88, passed away on August 22, 2026, in Payson Arizona.
Grace was born on September 6, 1937, in New Rochelle, New York, to Lawrence and Lois Schroeder. On January 27,1959, she married Richard George Handy at N.A.S. Barbers Point in Oahu, Hawaii. Together, they welcomed their son, Edward.
Grace was known for her warmth, humor, and creativity. She loved reading, writing, playing Bingo, and painting. She especially enjoyed her time volunteering at the local hospital gift shop. Her fun-loving personality made her easy to laugh with.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband Richard; father, Lawrence Schroeder; her mother, Lois Schroeder; her sister Ruth Schroeder Lawson, and her brother, Marvin Schroeder.
She is survived by son, Edward (Richelle); 4 grandchildren, Charles, Justin, Nathan, and Amber; 7 great-grandchildren Silas, Blue, Jude, Lily, Landon, Kade, and Margaret; 8 nieces, Robin Schroeder Elliot, Mellisa Schroeder Gangwer, Debbie Schroeder Ball, Belinda Schroeder Hawn, Betty Lawson Bridge, Corrine Lawson Caulfield, Gale Lawson Kissinger, and Joan Lawson Smith; and 4 nephews, Mark Schroeder, David Schroeder; Roy ‘Bean’ Lawson, and Jay Lawson.
Grace will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who will cherish the memories of her kindness, laughter, creativity, and love.
