Daniel Carl Smith, 86 of Murrieta, California, died June 10, 2026 in the comfort of his home. He was born on March 5, 1940, to Jerold and Pearl Smith in Cochranton, Pennsylvania.
He attended Tri-State College in Angola, Indiana, where he graduated with an Engineering degree. He worked 30+ years in the Industrial Insurance business as a fire inspector.
He was an avid reader, painter, and woodworker. He became a widower in 1979. He was a fantastic father and raised his 2 children on his own. In 2024, he joined his family in California.
He was preceded in death by his parents, younger brother, Richard Smith, and his wife, Sylvia Brunner Smith.
He is survived by his brother, Larry Smith, daughter, Jennifer Smith Ott, son, Bradley Smith, 3 grandchildren, 3 nieces, and 1 nephew.
