It is with great sadness that we share the news that Sydney Spanton (Simon) passed away on 7th January 2026, aged 83.
Born in Southport, Merseyside UK, in 1942, Simon moved to the United States in 1990, where he made his home and spent the remainder of his life around Phoenix, Arizona. In 1997 he met Gail, whom he later married, and together they built a life they shared with care and commitment.
Simon approached life with curiosity and seriousness. He held a long-standing interest in history, literature, and politics, and was engaged in a personal pursuit of meaning, that balanced shared experience with the search for belonging.
He leaves behind his wife Gail, his children Michael and Audrey, his two grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. He was deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
