William Dillon Sundin

July 15, 2025

William (“Bill”) Dillon Sundin, 86, of Tempe, Arizona, departed this life on July 15, 2025.  He fought a long battle with Frontotemporal Dementia, but lived a blessed life surrounded by his family.  Bill was born on September 7, 1938, a year before WWII began, in Chicago, Illinois, to Carl William Sundin and Ruth Lucille Dillon.  He grew up in Chicago, and much of his life revolved around the North Side Gospel Center and spending his summers at Camp AWANA.  He attended Carl Schurz High School and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Education at Northwestern University.  He went on to become a teacher and then a principal at a high school in downtown Chicago, later entering into the real estate business.  He met the love of his life, Charlotte Ann Nelson, in 1959, and they were married on June 16, 1962, and together they had four children, Scott, Julie, Sandy, and Chad.  In 1978, the family moved to Mesa, Arizona.  Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and brother-in-law, Charlene and Arne Abrahamsen, his brother, David Sundin, and his wife of almost 62 years, Charlotte.  Those who remain to carry on his memory are his children, Scott (Kelly), Julie (Monty) Carson, Sandy (Jeff) McEarchern, and Chad (Jana), 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren (and one on the way), his sisters-in-law, Sandy Sundin and Sonya Peterson, and many nieces and nephews.  A private family service was held in his honor.  His body was donated to Research for Life in an effort to advance research into FTD.  We miss you, Dad, but we’re glad your body and mind are whole at last. You are at peace with your Savior, and together with Mom again.
